Welcome to Amas Veritas [dot] com

Updates: Media (lyrics) has a new layout. I could never figure out how to lay it out, but it's easier to navigate now. I'm still working on a better duplicate Mamblog mod. I'm trying to make submittions easier but the poetry form died for some reason. Quizzes are also on their way from the old site. Joomla content isn't very code friendly so I'm having to rewrite old code. You can still click on News > AH v21 > Screen if you wish to use the quizzes.

oh, those darn eBayers

I don't understand how people can justify calling each other names TO THEIR FACE. If you read my comment on the eBay forums (which I posted here also), read this reply: 1011073409. Oh, any my reply to them: 2008531721. People just have to take their problems out on others I guess. If this person wasn't already angry, they'd let the OPer yap all they wanted, but instead they have to pollute the whole eBay discussion forum with their pissy attitude.

Equestrian : College-Level Sports

From the VarsityEquestrian Website:

"I choose to compete within Varsity Equestrian because I saw all the amazing things varsity programs offered. Between the coaching staff, tutors, athletic trainers, and the facilities, I couldn't pass up an opportunity like that. They treated the riders as true athletes, and equestrian as a real sport." - OSU Student

The NCAA still doesn't treat Equestrian SPORTS as a real sport. If you view the NCAA website, it doesn't mention Equestrian in it's list of fall, winter, or spring sports. If you go to the flash page ncaastudents.org and try to create a personalized sports card (see below), Equestrian isn't an option when it asks your sport. How a college could list Cheerleading in their athletics department and not Equestrian is beyond me. Cheerleading should be in the Arts category, like dance and the marching band, not in athletics. Any sport included in the Olympic games should be listed FIRST as they are recognized by the WORLD as a sport worthy of recognition.

I don't like how Varsity Equestrian works. In the real world, you aren't going to compete on a horse you've never ridden. You're going to train for months or years on one or two main horses that you will compete all year on. Additional horses might be ridden for the horse's experience but not to win. When you go to the World Cup or the Olympics, you and that horse are a team and you know each other well. If not, you don't stand a chance.

My Sports Card (if it was the year 2000):

eBay and some simple reasons to stay away

From the ebay forums:

Wow, I admit I skipped most of page two and all of page three when reading through this post. It's amazing how many people feel the need to get into arguments about each other's motives. I thought we were here to discuss the OP?

Quote:
If the message was in the first 2 pages, why is this thread over 4 pages long? Could it be your constant bumping and repetition of the same message? Why yes, yes it can.

...

No, what I would like is for any buyers you to share your opinion more seriously, since you've had the same opinion for over a year! You obviously want folks to TAKE you seriously don't you??? But you are making a mockery out of your own opinion with the halloween pictures, constant bumping and spamming! Don't you SEE that?

You honestly think that bumping your thread with the same message supplimented by bloody halloween pictures is going to convince anyone of your message? All it's doing is convincing folks that there's something seriously wrong with you!

All I can say is this: Stop fueling the flame. Are we in high school here? Obviously, your comment warrants a reply by reaper and the vicious cycle goes on & on. THIS is why this post is four pages long. When you reply after reaper bumps the thread, you're only adding to the problem. If no one replied, do you think reaper would conduct an on-going monologue? Doubtful.

I can't help but point out all the posts from starbuckseven that just have a graphic, and all those people out there who use words and phrases that aren't in the English language, shout-outs for Turkey Day. Cut those out, you might have two or three pages instead of four. THESE are the posts not worth reading. Please do everyone the courtesy of using spell check and proper English, and leave the shout-outs for email, IM, off-topic threads, that's what they're there for.

The OP opens up a very relevant discussion. If you're a Power Seller, you may want to turn around and not even get involved in this discussion, but as a buyer, it's a very real concern. You guys keep talking about "truth" but there is no "truth" as the rules clearly state that no party is required to leave feedback first. It does, however, state a real fact that buyers may legitimately expect sellers to leave FB first but that sellers may choose to wait until they receive FB.

I'm all for leaving positive FB first if the seller was exceptional. If they in turn leave me negative or neutral feedback when I paid IMMEDIATELY and caused them no problems, I'm going to reply to their FB stating that fact. I've personally never left positive feedback and had a negative FB response. I have had the issue where the seller was a jerk and after my honest comment about his lack of communication, he blamed the problem on me. Well, he just lost a great buyer. His loss, not mine. FB should be taken with a grain of salt. Odds are, one bad FB among a collection glowing FBs should be disregarded as heresay.

I recently purchased several items from one (Power?) seller all in a week or weekend. I paid IMMEDIATELY after the last auction closed (I emailed them to inform them that I was waiting to see if I won a fourth auction to pay because shipping was discounted). Several days later they didn't say if they had shipped/processed/RECEIVED my order so I requested status. (Harmless right?) I then received the order and half of it was wrong, the items were not what I ordered. You get the go-around with support who tells you to email someone else who sends you ten emails (half of them automated) before resolving your issue (returning the items without paying more shipping for their error) and yet I still haven't received positive feedback for the immediate payment, friendly communications, etc. It makes me wonder if they value their customers. In this case, I'll happily leave neutral feedback if I receive my correct order without any more fuss and negative if there are more problems. I won't wait for feedback from them. If they're professional enough to accept their mistakes, they won't take this out on me.

On the flip side, I won two auctions from another seller, paid immediately, received the items in a timely manner and they have not left me feedback. I'll wait for them because it's only fair. You just can't leave feedback based on the feedback received. I should not receive negative feedback for my professionalism, even if I had to leave neutral or negative feedback for their lack of professionalism. Sellers do seem to have the same thought though, don't leave FB until FB is received. If we all continue this way, no one will ever receive FB and the system is useless. If the seller is unprofessional, they'll lose my business. Period.

Conclusion, ;-) it's a judgment call. I believe the OP is mostly correct, but in certain cases, it just isn't necessary to be the difficult party. Sometimes we all need to grow up and be the better person.

eBay is such a horrible place to do business. In my experience...

Seller: greattunesdirect
(total asshole, blames everyone for bad communication...obvioulsy he's the one who is CAUSING the communication problem. We all have proof that we've followed through on our end, communication, payment, etc. and leaves negative feedback beucase he was GIVEN negative feedback. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Should be banned from eBay)

As buyers have stated:
"Seller uses retaliatory feedback against all negative feedback given."
"Shameless pack of lies. Seller uses retaliation in place of customer service."
"Emailed, called & opened PayPal dispute - no communication? WRONG ITEM WAS SENT!"
"On their part!!! I sent numerous emails that took them days to respond to!!"
"DO NOT BUY FROM SELLER-DOES NOT HONOR ANY PROMISE ON HIS SALE-I HAVE EMAIL PROOF"
"This is untrue.Paid same day bought.Sent info on concern day product recieved."
"what B S bought item and left email beware of these crooks! knew this one coming"
"I have all my emails to seller, and seller never responded to dispute."
"I EMAILD CO. 2-3 TIMES, GOT NOT REPLY, THEY DIDNT LV. FDBK TILL I DID, STRANGE?"
"I had send more than 15 email and i had pay in time, they send me a broken item"
From Seller: "Deadbeat Buyer - Refuses to Pay W/ Confirmed PayPal payment or M.O."
Reply by *BUYER*: "U retards, both items have been paid for, w/ confirmed paypal, check ur reciepts"

I could go on. 86 Negatives and 155 neutrals in just a year is WAY TOO MUCH. The seller is obviously the problem. Regardless of the Positive to netagive ratio, you can't ignore the fact that he's received 13 negative and 13 neutral in ONE MONTH. I don't care what type of volume you have, if you can't handle it, you shouldn't be in the business, and this guy can't handle it. Find another way to sell or sell fewer items. He also seems to have a negative opinion of Canadians and the British because he has to mention their country every time he leaves negative feedback. What jerk. Amazon is so much safer. You deal with Amazon for payment, then there's no question if you paid, and since it's a "store", the seller can't make up stupid communication rules and excuses. I buy, you ship, end of story.

"It's Okay to Miss the Bed on the First Jump"

Part of me hates Joomla because of the numerous entries I've lost because it logged me out. I can't even Alt+Left Arrow to go back, copy my work, then sign back in. It makes me SICK to write out a bunch of stuff then lose it all just like that. I should be able to go back and have the data still there. All the forms I design allow for this because I just hate re-entering thoughts and really anything else. I hate repeating myself and you know, it's never as good the second time. My heart just isn't in it. Anyhow, I totally have to buy this book (my original reason for writing): It's Okay to Miss the Bed on the First Jump: And Other Life Lessons I Learned from Dogs by John O'Hurley and if my ENTRY HAD SAVED you'd understand when I say "It's time for some ice cream despite the fact that my eyes burn too much from crying to exercise it off. I'll just have to chalk it up to a bad food day and try to do better tomorrow."
