October 13, 2002 (1:41am) Apparently, when your eyes feel like they're popping out of your head it means you're buzzed. At least that's what they tell me. I guess I don't see what all the fuss is about. Today was about as 21st-birthday-ish as I plan on ever getting. Hopefully, my 21st birthday will be spent in the eating disorder unit of some highly recommended treatment center where alcohol is a bad thing. I don't want to ever experience slurred speach falling down drunkenness, it just doesn't appeal to me. I enjoy being able to form sentences on command. And as for the falling down part, starving myself seems to accomplish that quite well. Somehow, our electricity free weekend has been quite eventful, and not completely in the bad sense. Sure we spent Friday huddled near small battery-powered lanters playing old-timey bored games eating only food that came pre-heated and was self-insulating, but we had a few laughs. And today when I was all alone and the power was out, I was perfectly happy playing my music on a battery-powered radio, crocheting while it was still light outside, waiting for California Edison to turn my television back on. It wasn't all bad.
