Updates: Media (lyrics) has a new layout. I could never figure out how to lay it out, but it's easier to navigate now. I'm still working on a better duplicate Mamblog mod. I'm trying to make submittions easier but the poetry form died for some reason. Quizzes are also on their way from the old site. Joomla content isn't very code friendly so I'm having to rewrite old code. You can still click on News > AH v21 > Screen if you wish to use the quizzes.

Finally, after many months of testing and waiting and researching...Windows Vista & Microsoft Office 2007 are here! Well, in 3 days they'll be here. I'm pre-ordering Windows Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 Ultimate (most likely). I just can't wait any longer. I am having to fix computers while I wait though. In order to run Vista on my laptop, I first need a new hard drive. In order to run it on my server, I first have to increase the RAM so that I can run it via Microsoft Virtual Machine. Unfortunatly, I also don't have a DVD-ROM on my server so I need the notebook working to copy the files over. It's just incredible that Microsoft would create an operating system that REQUIRES a DVD-ROM. That just isn't standard yet. It will cost me more to upgrade [or replace] hardware than it will to actully purchase the software. I want Office 2007 Ultimate but I keep thinking of the things I won't use. I don't need PowerPoint but that comes with EVERY version. How many students and HOME users with little or no technically ability actually need [or want] PowerPoint? Stupid. Groove sounds really awsome but my family (who are also my coworkers) don't want to have anything to do with the 2007 suites or Vista for that matter. It also comes with InfoPath which is just totally awsome to me, I wish I was able to add it to our company website but we don't have resources to run any kind of production server so the form server is out. Publisher is always nice to have but not required. The Accounting software is free so it doesn't increase the price. Oh and OneNote. That program is questionable. it seems pretty cool but I've been working with folders to organize my stuff for so long, it's not natural to have to open a program to organize my stuff. I figure if I have a descriptive title, I'll find everything eventually. Well, I'm selling two graphics cards on Amazon.com (Diamond Stealth Express ATI Radeon X300SE 128 MB DDR Cinematic 2D/3D Graphics Card (X300SE128WB)). I obviously have no clue when it comes to the inside of a computer. I'm more of a software person than hardware. I'm getting better though. I also have a hard drive for a Dell Dimension PC that I'm going to sell. I don't have a Dell Dimension. Now that I've gone through all that, I suppose Office 2007 Professional will do. I can always pick up InfoPath at later date. It's $300 for the upgrade and InfoPath is $180. If I went down to the Small Business version which is $250 to upgrade, then I'd have to buy Access which is $102 and Infopath, it would actually cost more than if I bought Professional plus Infopath (But buying Ultimate costs more than Professional because I've left out two programs). That's hoping I have the upgrade requirements for everything because then it will cost even more. I wish we could would just do a volume license order for the family and the business. That would be 7-8 computers and it would save so much hassle with disks and which license goes to which computer and what if we loose the disk and need to reinstall? How do we get that license back to be eligable for upgrade? Anyhoo...I'm sure that was painfully boring to read. I'm excited though. I even put a chart together last night with cost comparisons to see what each suite had versus what I needed and the cost to buy each part individually. I also find it really stupid that Microsoft makes you call them if you need to install your Office software more than five times. That just doesn't work for me because I've wiped my hard drive two or three times to "fix" stuff, then with beta testing and trials I've uninstalled Office 2003 and reinstalled it when I had had it with 2007 beta and now I'm using the trial for Office Enterprise 2007 but I'll need to install Office 2003 again to be eligible for upgrade. I just don't use the phone unless it's life or death or something. The cost difference between Full Version & Upgrade is $200 for Professional so that just may end up qualifying as life or death. I just don't make that kind of money right now. My sister always mentions "the perks of working with family" (perks my ass).
