| Updates: Media (lyrics) has a new layout. I could never figure out how to lay it out, but it's easier to navigate now. I'm still working on a better duplicate Mamblog mod. I'm trying to make submittions easier but the poetry form died for some reason. Quizzes are also on their way from the old site. Joomla content isn't very code friendly so I'm having to rewrite old code. You can still click on News > AH v21 > Screen if you wish to use the quizzes. |

I discovered the site Cre.ation.net today and posted my first creation (follow the link to see the enlarged image and other creations): ![]() Annabellasong.com © DS I was so used to creating websites with flowers and pale or minimal color that when I came across this image in some stock photos I purchased, it struck me as something I had to work with, no matter how it turned out in the end. I have a thing about adding obscure text, or in this case random code snippets from one of the pages I was working on, in different fonts and colors to open spaces in my images. It's my way of adding "texture" and my own words or code to an otherwise drab graphic (although I realize this image never started out as "drab"). I was also experimenting with a mass of new fonts and was particularly fond of the font used for the domain. This domain was otherwise useless to me so I decided to take the leap and was fairly happy with the result. I received a lot of shocked looks which was obviously a reaction I was hoping for. The website didn't stick around long, I found that the image had to be rather large for the font to be at all legible as HTML & CSS so my concern for my visitors got the better of me and I had to let it go. The smaller squares were added because it seemed like an awkward space and the flipped square and small rectangle brought just was I was wanting there without completely changing the focus. There were probably better options for that space but it seemed fine in the end. I've since used the small square of the face in many small projects but as a whole, I think I've decided the colors don't work for me. Although I'd love to use a deep blood red or a fuscia, or maybe even the bright orange of her hair, they just don't work well with the graphics I gravitate to. I have however continued to use my own prose and other text in my graphics as light backgrounds or a screen overlay to make a graphic more personal. This image was done in Macromedia Fireworks 2.0 which I'm terribly fond of and too poor to upgrade ;-) The only thing I would have changed was the grainy texture that appeared when I decreased the image size, which also blurred the HTML code (orange text). As it was, it took an undesirable amount time for users to download the image. This is a problem I have yet to solve. Note: despite the category, this isn't my photography and I never use Photoshop to edit images. It just seemed the most appropriate. Last update: 01-08-2007 04:41
