Waking up lonely in a hospital bed
As she has for so many days
She glares out the window to the street beyond
Wanting so badly to return home.

The nurse comes assuming today she'll have breakfast
She's new and knows nothing of this girl's refusal to eat
To the kitchen she saunters, oh how thin she is getting
She grabs a diet soda and walks to her room, looking down at her feet

She shakes as she holds it and picks up a book
She lies on her bed passing time until group
She decides she's too tired, hasn't eaten for days
She stirs hours later as the nurse knocks on the door
